Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Regional Clinical Manager and the Medical Director or the Medical Director’s designee, the Polysomnographic Technologist performs adult and pediatric sleep studies. Trainees and Technicians work under the guidance of a technologist. Responsibilities are to include:

  • Explain testing procedures to patient
  • Apply all recording and monitoring electrodes
  • Recognize and eliminate artifacts within PSG
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot all equipment as needed to maintain quality data
  • Apply appropriate testing and therapies as ordered and according to protocol
  • Train Polysomnographic new hires and trainees under guidelines set forth by Persante and associated accrediting agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Certification Requirements: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
  • Licensure Requirements: Must hold a Connecticut (CT) state licensure.
  • Experience: Prior experience in sleep medicine is preferred.
  • Education: An Associate’s degree in Sleep Medicine is preferred.

Routine Work Hours

Although hours may vary depending on the needs of the company, the hours of the above duties are generally met in 10 or 12 hour shifts starting between the hours of 7-9 pm and ending by 8 am. Studies are performed seven days a week. The exact hours and days or nights of each employee is assigned individually and memorialized in the employment letter. Work hours may be altered at the discretion of the company. Such an agreement will be memorialized in writing by management and signed by the employee and an executive of the company.
